Amazon Inbound Shipments Integration with Odoo

About Client

by Khurram Iftikhar

Croghan Homeware Ltd, based in County Wexford, Ireland, is a dynamic player in e-commerce retail. Specialising in homeware products and household appliance spare parts, the company employs a multifaceted sourcing strategy. They secure inventory through partnerships with distributors in Ireland, and Italy, and direct procurements from manufacturers. This approach fuels ongoing expansion, driving collaborations with various suppliers.

Unlike conventional enterprises, Croghan Homeware Ltd doesn't confine itself to a specific product category; rather, it harbours ambitions to diversify into exciting sectors such as electronics, toys, and more.

Key Challenge with Amazon Shipments

One of the key challenges faced while integrating Amazon inbound shipments with Odoo was managing shipments from the client's local warehouse to FBA warehouses. The client primarily created these shipments directly on Amazon, leading to a lack of visibility in Odoo regarding shipment creation on Amazon and the subsequent decrease in stock levels at the local warehouse.

Client Requirements

The client's requirements included:

  1. Implementing an option in Odoo to create shipments that would automatically generate corresponding shipments on Amazon.
  2. Providing the ability to select the local warehouse location for stock pick-up.
  3. Integrating a feature to retrieve shipment status updates from Amazon and synchronize them with Odoo.
  4. Establishing a monitoring mechanism to track whether specific stock items sent to Amazon had been received or not.

Numla’s Solution

Our solution entails seamlessly integrating Odoo with Amazon, ensuring that shipment plans created in Odoo are automatically mirrored in Amazon. Similarly, if the client wishes to import created shipment plans from Amazon into Odoo, that functionality is also available.

Shipment Creation in Odoo

When creating a shipment plan in Odoo, users select the marketplace, destination country, products, and desired quantities.

Create shipment plan

Upon approval, the plan is generated, displaying all necessary information in Odoo, including fulfilment centre details, product codes, shipment IDs, and the creation of pickings.

Inbound shipment plan

The stock movement involves transferring items from the local warehouse's internal location to an in-transit location, where the warehouse team prepares for shipment. Subsequently, once the stock reaches the FBA warehouse, the second picking process is automatically initiated.
